UBC IT managed PCs will be targeted with a silent package that will transition Windows OS to the new BC time zone (UTC-07:00) Pacific Time (British Columbia). For Windows OS PCs that have Location Services and Set time zone automatically turned on, the time zone change will be controlled by the OS. For all other scenarios the silent package will take care of setting the time zone to (UTC-07:00) Pacific Time (British Columbia), or (UTC-07:00) Yukon, depending on the availability of the new time zone to the OS which was made available via the Oct 13, 2026 Windows Cumulative Security Updates. We realize this may impact a small number of devices operating outside BC (Washington, Oregon, California) that may need to be corrected after this change.
