During this service window on June 13, 2024, 00:00-05:00 PT; network services will be interrupted briefly and intermittently while physical and logical changes are being performed on the network access switches and while the user ports are migrated to new switching infrastructure.

Scheduled - The EduCloud Server backup software will undergo maintenance from June 10th, 2024, 10:00 PT to June 13th, 2024, 14:00 PT. During the maintenance window, requests for restores may be delayed by a few hours as we complete the upgrades in various locations. There will be no impact to virtual machine management or provisioning through the EduCloud Server Administration Portal.

Investigating - There are reports of access issues for some users with the OAMS application. The support teams are investigating but no ETA at this time. Users with access issues are advised to submit a Workday Student Support ticket with the following information, if possible: CWL, Employee ID, Position ID, OAMS Role & Unit. Please also confirm if you had ongoing OAMS access up to June 5 and for which Unit(s).
Please note: Workday access is required for access to the OAMS application.

Monitoring - A workaround has been put in place for this issue. This issue only impacts users who are obtaining a MATLAB license for the very first time (existing MathWorks account holders renewing licenses are not affected). Please see the link below to ensure the prerequisites are met before ordering a MATLAB license.

Identified - UBC IT has identified the issue and is working with the vendor on a workaround. Existing MathWorks account holders are not affected and are able to obtain MATLAB licenses.

Investigating - Some users are experiencing issues creating a new MathWorks account, which is required to obtain a MATLAB license. Users experiencing the issue are unable to create the MathWorks account even after using a UBC email address. UBC IT is investigating the issue with the vendor.

University Computer Management System (UCMS) Maintenance for Apple devices (Jamf Pro) will be undergoing routine maintenance on June 19, 2024 @ 20:00. During this time Apple devices will not be able to contact the server for updates, however no disruption to use of Apple devices is expected.

The Appian UBC Appian PRD site will be offline during the semi-annual major upgrade maintenance window.

There will be a service interruption of up to 2 hours during the maintenance window.

The UBC Network team will perform network upgrades on UBC IT managed AWS cloud connection on June 23, 2024 from 10:00 to 15:00 PT. During the upgrade, users may experience a services outage hosted on UBC IT AWS for no longer than 20 minutes.

An upgrade is planned for MyVPN on July 22 2024, 12:00-17:00 PT.

Multifactor Authentication is to be turned on for the MyVPN service. There is no expected downtime for VPN. Users currently logged into VPN would not need to log in again right away. After the change, active for-credit Students, Staff, Faculties would be challenged for MFA to log into VPN under most conditions. Sponsored guest, basic accounts, alumni, non-active emeriti, extending learning students, etc. would not be challenged for MFA on VPN.

Please be aware that some MFA methods - TouchID, WebAuthn, FIDO2/U2F "Security Keys" (blue Yubikey, blue Feitian keys) - will not work for VPN. If a user has these MFA methods as their only options, they need to go to https://mfadevices.id.ubc.ca/vpn to add an alternative MFA methods in order to use VPN.
