During this service window from March 11, 2025, 21:00 PT to March 12, 2025, 06:00 PT; network services will be interrupted briefly and intermittently while physical and logical changes are being performed on the network backbones and while the user ports are migrated to new switching infrastructure.

Investigating - We are currently seeing a degraded loading performance for Lockdown Browser in Canvas. We have reported this to the vendor, Respondus, and they are currently investigating on the issue. Users may see longer than usual times in loading Lockdown Browser in Canvas, or may receive a Stop Sign “unexpected error”. We will provide another update as soon as the problem is resolved. Virtual machines running on the EduCloud Server service will remain up and running. Administrators will be able to manage virtual machines via other management methods such as RDP and SSH, but will not be able to manage them through the EduCloud Portal.

Monitoring - Exchange Online service was down from approximately 12:45 – 13:40 PT. This was a global issue affecting not only UBC but other Microsoft 365 users. Microsoft was able to identify the cause of the issue and has reverted their change to restore service. Service was restored at approximately 13:40 PT. Microsoft and UBC IT are monitoring to confirm service recovery.

Investigating - Microsoft Exchange Online mailboxes are not working at this time. Only FASmail and Student Email mailboxes that have been migrated to M365 Exchange Online are affected. Users are experiencing connectivity issues with webmail, mobile and Outlook apps. This appears to be an issue affecting all M365 environments, including Hotmail and Outlook.com. Microsoft technicians are investigating.
