Update - While Instructure has made the Canvas service available again, UBC continues to review prior to providing access for the UBC community.

The university is working to maintain learning continuity for courses already underway as well as those starting later this week and will be contacting affected community members in the coming days regarding these courses. Students and instructors can find course information and resources, while Canvas is unavailable: https://ltic.ubc.ca/canvas-redirect/.

Students, please check your email from UBC regularly, as your instructor or department may contact you directly with updates or instructions.

Update - The university is working to maintain learning continuity for courses starting next week and will be contacting affected community members in the coming days.

As a precautionary measure, we are now advising UBC community members who use Canvas to take the following steps:

- Do not attempt to log into Canvas or Canvas Catalog until UBC IT advises that it is safe to do so; and
- If you logged into Canvas or Canvas Catalog after 12 p.m. PT on Thursday, May 7, please change your CWL password immediately and contact UBC Cybersecurity at security@ubc.ca. Community members can change their CWL password here: https://www.myaccount.ubc.ca/myAccount/.

While Instructure has made the Canvas service available, UBC needs to review security measures prior to providing access for the UBC community.

We also recommend that faculty, staff, and students continue to be vigilant against phishing and follow best practices for protecting their accounts and data, including using strong passwords and enabling multi-factor authentication where available.

The EduCloud Server environment (https://bcnet.educloud.ubc.ca) for Organizations hosted at UBC Okanagan in Kelowna will be undergoing scheduled maintenance on May 14, 2026, 15:00-18:00 PT.

There are no expected outages to running virtual machines and no impacts to the EduCloud Server Administration Portal.

TouchNet PROD Site Maintenance May 15, 2026 00:00 to 04:00 PT May 15, 2026 00:00-04:00 PDT

The TouchNet PROD site will be undergoing scheduled maintenance. During the update window the TouchNet PROD site will be offline for logging in by staff as a TouchNet user and for customers making new payments. During this time when the payor clicks "pay now" TouchNet will display a screen informing the payor that the system is off line for maintenance and to try again after the system is back online.

UBCIT eSAM Servers Maintenance May 27, 2026, 20:00-23:00 PT May 27, 2026 20:00-23:00 PDT

UBCIT will be performing maintenance on the eSAM component and vault servers on May 27, 2026, 20:00-23:00 PT. This change will affect both UBC campuses.

Users will intermittently not be able to login to any servers managed by eSAM, nor retrieve any credentials via the eSAM Web UI throughout the maintenance window.

Any connections terminated while a component is being rebooted can be reconnected to the secondary node. All connections will be terminated and users won't be able to reconnect while we patch the vault servers (which typically lasts around 30 minutes) during this window.

Scheduled - UBCIT will be performing maintenance on the eSAM component and vault servers on APRIL 30, 2026, 20:00-23:00 PT. This change will affect both UBC campuses.

As part of this maintenance window we are also performing a DR failover test in preparation for eSAM's VM migration to OpenStack. Please ensure your systems have their firewall open accordingly to keep connectivity with our eSAM components (please contact the UBCIT IAM team for the requirements).

Users will intermittently not be able to login to any servers managed by eSAM, nor retrieve any credentials via the eSAM Web UI throughout the maintanance window.

Any connections terminated while a component is being rebooted can be reconnected to the secondary node. All connections will be terminated and users won't be able to reconnect while we patch the vault servers (which typically lasts around 30 minutes) during this window.

We are deploying a critical fix in UDAP (Universal Data Access Platform) to fix Transfer Credits calculations.

• ODMT will display a maintenance page to all users during the two 30-minute outages
• Students cannot access ODMT or CNVM during outages
• Staff cannot process orders or update information during outages
• SCT will remain available and is not affected by this maintenance

• All systems will return to normal operation
