An upgrade is planned for MyVPN on July 22 2024, 12:00-17:00 PT.

Multifactor Authentication is to be turned on for the MyVPN service. There is no expected downtime for VPN. Users currently logged into VPN would not need to log in again right away. After the change, active for-credit Students, Staff, Faculties would be challenged for MFA to log into VPN under most conditions. Sponsored guest, basic accounts, alumni, non-active emeriti, extending learning students, etc. would not be challenged for MFA on VPN.

Please be aware that some MFA methods - TouchID, WebAuthn, FIDO2/U2F "Security Keys" (blue Yubikey, blue Feitian keys) - will not work for VPN. If a user has these MFA methods as their only options, they need to go to https://mfadevices.id.ubc.ca/vpn to add an alternative MFA methods in order to use VPN.
